Bio

Mr. Gregory A. Feith was a Senior Air Safety Investigator (now retired) with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) for 22 years; and the recipient of the 2001 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Distinguished Alumni Award for "extraordinary distinction and success in the field of aviation, and achievements that have brought recognition to the university and benefit to his fellow citizens". During his tenure with the NTSB, Greg served in a variety of positions, including Air Safety Investigator (Field) Unit Supervisor, Regional Director, and Senior Air Safety Investigator.

He served as the Investigator-In-Charge (IIC) of the NTSB "Go-Team", from 1993 until his departure in 2001, and was the IIC or U.S. accredited representative (head of U.S. investigative team) for the following notable accident investigations:

Greg Feith was also the U.S. Accredited Representative and Team Leader of six American investigators who climbed Mt. Illimani, Bolivia to an elevation of 21,223 feet (6468 meters) MSL, to conduct the on-scene wreckage examination of Eastern Airlines Boeing 727-225 (EA980 ). This is the highest accident site in commercial aviation history.

Greg Feith was awarded the 1996 Laurel Award from Aviation Week and Space Technology magazine in the category of "Outstanding Operations" for leadership during the conduct of the Valujet Airlines investigation in the Florida Everglades; and received the 2001 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Distinguished Alumni Award for "extraordinary distinction and success in the field of aviation and achievements", and the 2003 SAFE Association, Michael R. Grost Award for "significant contributions to the life sciences area through leadership and evolutionary aircraft accident investigation using scientific mishap analysis, investigative study, historical documentation. Leading to system design improvements that enhance the life-saving potential of aircraft/spacecraft egress systems or life support".

He is widely known and respected for his frequent public speaking engagements ranging from elementary schools to professional aviation groups and trade associations. Greg has also acted as technical advisor in television and the movies. He is a contributing write to Business & Commercial Aviation magazine and can be seen regularly as a guest aviation safety and security expert on NBC, MSNBC, The History Channel, PBS, National Geographic Channel's "Seconds From Disaster" and "Air Crash Investigation" (also known as "MayDay" and "Air Emergency") series, and other networks. In his spare time he also hosts "Hangar Flying Today", a weekly 2-hour aviation radio program in Denver, Colorado.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University  in Daytona Beach, Florida. ATP-rated (3000+ hours) and trained on numerous Air Transport and GA aircraft, Greg flies his Piper PA-24-260 Comanche (N770P ).

Greg resides near Denver, Colorado, and has (or had) a car licence plate "CRASH 1" :)
